Green Gecko visit
The visit to Green Gecko was amazing. We began the day by helping out in their garden. We built garden beds, helped build the path and moved a very big chook pen. It took the whole team plus some of the Green Gecko crew to help move it. The students from our group sat with the Green Gecko kids for lunch before heading to assembly. After that it was off to learn how to spell our names, write numbers in Khmer and learn a bit of bokatau (Cambodian self defence). The Green Gecko kids were the teachers and they were fantastic. So friendly and always smiling. Nobody wanted to leave and we had a few of the Gecko kids running down the road after us.

Green Gecko is always a great place to visit and we are very lucky to be invited. Glad you all had another great experience. Keep up the good work after some much needed rest.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me smile to read this recount of your day at this very special place. As Gerardine says, we are indeed privileged to be invited to share in the lives of the extraordinary people who are at Green Gecko. It is a dream of mine to return one day and possibly teach there for a while. One day...
